ABOUT THE ARTIST
No matter how carefully one plans out his or her life, there will always be those unexpected events over which we have no control. Often times, they alter our pre-meditated chosen path significantly.
Up until the age of about 45, my life had gone relatively smoothly. Sure, I had some bumps in the road, but that's all they were, bumps which slowed me down a bit. In 1999 divorce turned my world upside down & started this chain of events which eventually landed me in the middle of the Mojave Desert, surrounded by natural beauty, where I live today.
It is this natural beauty which inspired me to pursue photography at a serious level. Every one of the photos on my website was taken at our home or the area immediately surrounding it. After 50+ years of the "rat race" in so-called civilization, this is paradise! My one regret in living here is the excessive distance between me & my dearest of friends, the members of the Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles. I love & miss you all...
My first passion in life has always been music. I started playing piano at the age of 6, learned trombone, bass trombone, Eb tuba, & french horn in jr. high & high school, & eventually started playing various bagpipes, whistles, accordion, & more, later in life. I studied music & photography at Pasadena City College in California back in the 70's. Yes, I actually used to go into the darkroom to develop my film & prints. A lot has changed since then, but much is still the same.
Here's to the new friends I have not yet met. I hope you will enjoy my photographs & music.
